SecurShred Expands Services with Secure Vault Storage


SecurShred, Vermont's first AAA NAID Certified company is expanding its information security services by offering Secure Vault Storage. Customers are now able to store sensitive electronic media in a secure, off site, fire resistant vault. Media is secured within a locked container and is transported to and from customer locations in climate controlled vehicles; providing ease of offsite data storage and access within 24 hours of request.

Non-Compliance Costs Far More Than Strict Compliance


This article discusses the cost of non-compliance with data protection laws and regulations versus strict compliance. While businesses may balk at the cost of compliance, this study makes clear what NAID members are already tell their customers: it is cheaper to comply than to get caught improperly handling data.

Insurer Agrees To Pay $55,000 For Data Breach

The Vermont Attorney General's office announced that a Connecticut based insurer, Health Net and Health Net of the Northeast, would pay $55,000 to settle a data breach affecting 525 Vermont residents, although the breach affected 1.5 million total customers.
