Over the past 11 years, SecurShred has recycled approximately 45,000,000 pounds of paper (22,500 tons). That is the equivalent of 300,000 trees. What does 300,000 tree’s look like? Imagine 429 football fields all put together. There are 640 acres in 1 square mile and 300,000 trees would fill 67% of that mile. We could not have done it without our growing number of customers or the Community Shred Events that we participate in every year.
Did you know?

For every 150 pounds of paper recycled, one tree is saved?
One tree can filter up to 25kg of air pollutants per year.
The average American uses the equivalent of one 100 foot tall Douglas fir tree in paper and wood products every year.
Making paper from recycled paper uses 30% to 55% less energy than making paper from trees.
There is 95% less air pollution created when creating paper from recycled paper versus cutting down trees to make paper.
Recycling 1 ton of newspaper saves 1 ton of wood.  Recycling 1 one of copy paper saves slightly more than 2 tons of wood.  This is because twice as much wood is used to produce higher quality paper like copy paper.
Enough wood and paper is thrown away in one year to heat 50,000,000 homes for 20 years.

Our trucks are on the road 5 days a week, using biodiesel when available and servicing all of Vermont, Up State New York, Northwestern Massachusetts, and parts of New Hampshire.

By implementing a no idling policy, we have reduced our diesel consumption and air pollutants.
